Job Description

We’re seeking a Staff Accountant to support monthly accounting functions and financial reporting for a large multi-region building services company.  This position is responsible for commission calculations, general ledger account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies, providing analysis of data and reporting. This individual will also need to collaborate and work closely with sales, operations, and finance management.

Primary Job Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Prepare journal entries for Asset, Liability, Revenue and Expense Accounts
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, research and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare bank reconciliations , research and resolve variances
  • Ability to step in as a back-up for shared service functions
  • Record AR adjustments, credit memos
  • Analyze data and provide management with reports that aid in decision making
  • Manage audit requests from internal and external sources
  • Prepare sales/use and property tax filings for various jurisdictions
  • Record intercompany transactions
  • Prepare sales commission statements and review for accuracy
  • Analyze financial statements to ensure appropriate application of GAAP
  • identify and research discrepancies and other issues that should be brought to the Controller’s attention with proposed solutions

 Education & Experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office programs
  • Strong MS Excel skills including Vlookup formulas and Pivot Tables
  • Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Bachelors of Science in Accounting from an accredited university
  • 2+  years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast paced complex environment     
  • CPA a plus, but not required
